Fantastic Win for Allotment and Residents!

This week our housing support worker Eileen Toby took two of our residents to the Fruitful Communities Forum in Stoke on Trent .

Fruitful Communities is part of Our Bright Futures programme which is a Big Lottery funded project.

They were invited as an example of how the project has supported them in the development of our fantastic allotment and orchard.  Through a portfolio of 31 projects across the UK, they are helping young people aged 11 – 24 to shape and deliver their own practical projects; to develop as environmental leaders and to gain real-world skills and experience.

We were one of a select few projects who were invited to meet the members of this year’s new Fruitful Communities projects to offer support to them and showcase our own highly successful project as inspiration.

Out of 31 projects for our year, we came a fantastic joint second place in the competition for best project! We won £375 towards our orchard development within our allotment.

Such a fantastic achievement for everyone involved!

If you or anyone you know would like to volunteer your time and skills in our allotment then please get in touch with enquiries@ymcanorthtyneside.org or call (0191) 2575434
