This weekend almost 100 people turned up to see the South Tyneside Mayor and Deputy Mayor unveil a plaque to commemorate those who were killed following a Zeppelin raid during World War One.
Both the Mayor and Deputy Mayor spent almost an hour talking to the young people about the mural they had painted in the subway, thanking them for their hard work.
The mural project was designed and painted by young people involved within the Central Jarrow Detached Youth Project and supported by the Big Local, South Tyneside Council, Community Arts Project North East and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The response to the mural project has been overwhelming within the local community and has served to highlight the positive impact young people are having in Jarrow.
