On March 16th YMCA North Tyneside played host to a fabulous afternoon of Vintage Tea, music and fundraising. The event was hosted by Chair of North Tyneside Council, Cllr Cath Davis.
Our Main Hall was transformed with bunting and vintage china tea sets while our guests enjoyed a selection of delicious handmade cakes and sandwiches from our hugely talented YMCA Café kitchen.
We had a number of dignitaries who also attended including, Lord Mayor of Newcastle and the Lord Mayor and Mayoress of Hartlepool, the mayor of South Tyneside and her mayoress, as well as the deputy Mayor of Durham and deputy Mayor of Northumberland.
Staff from across our building helped make the occasion run smoothly and kept everyone’s tea and coffee topped up. The guests were entertained with Rock ‘n’ Roll music from the fabulous Miss Mary & the Mr Rights.
Councillor Cath Davis said,
“Raising money for charities such as YMCA has been a privilege throughout my year of serving as the chair of North Tyneside. I never ceased to be amazed at the great work YMCA does for vulnerable young people in the area, helping them transform their lives and encouraging positive engagement in the community. The new facilities in North
Shields have further benefited the community and helped the charity become a real land mark in the town. I believe YMCA will go from strength to strength encouraging young people to be a valuable part of the community they live in.”
The event raised over £400 for the Chair’s chosen charities and the theme was a huge hit. Cllr Cath Davis continued,
“We really enjoyed the afternoon tea and were so impressed at how the room was transformed. The decorations, lovely vintage china together with the scrumptious cakes and sandwiches were a delight, and certainly high end tea at the Grand Hotel level!”
We are delighted with the success of the event and hope you enjoy looking through some of the many photographs that were taken on the day.
