Who are we?

YMCA North Tyneside is a Voluntary Sector Organisation undertaking youth and community programme work in areas of North Tyneside, South Tyneside, and Teesdale. We are part of the worldwide YMCA movement, which started in London in 1844 has grown to become the world’s largest and oldest youth movement.

Now, more than 175 years later, YMCA is operating in 119 countries, with 64 million people reached annually around the world. Guided by our Christian values, we believe everyone has potential, and we serve our communities so that all can hope, belong, contribute and thrive.

Job Description

YMCA North Tyneside operates 24 units of supported accommodation in North Shields on a 24/7 basis and has plans to expand the provision of similar services across the North East. The residents are young people aged 16 to 25 years, however a substantial number are in the 16 to 18 age range. The accommodation was newly created in 2014 and has won a number of awards.

We recently opened a 10 unit accommodation for people with learning difficulties in conjunction with a care provider. We plan to grow our provision of these types of services as the opportunity arises.

As a registered provider YMCA North Tyneside also works closely with other providers of social housing. Operating in the role of intermediary landlord, YMCA helps to create viable housing solutions for 100’s of people under the Exempt Accommodation system.

Job Purpose:

Underpinning everything YMCA wants to achieve for our residents is the effective management of the financial resources we need: to ensure our properties are safe and healthy, that support workers are well trained and resourced, that we have programmes of activities that challenge our residents to develop new skills and ways of thinking. The setting of rents and services charge and the effective collection of housing benefit is therefore of paramount importance in ensuring we can achieve our goals. If you want to help YMCA to make a difference in the lives of young homeless people, please apply today!

Benefits: In addition to joining a great team, our colleagues also benefit from: access to a free and confidential Employee Assistance Programme, 24/7 GP Helpline, discount at our Café and Nursery, a free gym membership for you and a loved one and training opportunities on various topics such as Safeguarding, Mental health and Health and Safety, Birthday off and enhanced holiday.

To be successful, it is essential that you have relevant experience and/or relevant qualifications, recent relevant training and Continued Professional Development. Additionally, it is essential that you have a flexible approach to your working hours, working hours could include daytime, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

Our mission is to create a community where everyone is healthy, happy and connected. We seek to champion those that have no voice and support those that need it most. Employing nearly 100 members of staff across various locations, we are ambitious, vibrant and visionary.

To Apply: Please apply by providing a cover letter detailing why you believe you are suitable for the position and an up to date CV (if you have trouble accessing the application form or require a different format, please do not hesitate to contact us).
