Youth & Community Development Worker
We have an exciting new opportunity for an Youth & Community Development Worker to join us. The successful candidate would lead and coordinate the development and delivery of our youth and community work under our path with a purpose programme, expanding our reach and ensuring all work delivered aims to empower children, young people, and support all individuals in our communities.

Job Title: Youth & Community Development Worker

Hours Per Week: 25 hours

Job Type: Part Time, Permanent

Salary: £17,488 per annum (£26’227 FTE)

 

 

If you are looking for a role where you can make a difference to the lives of young people and are looking for a more strategic role that involves designing, creating and rolling out new programmes and provisions, this could be the perfect role for you.

We are looking for a solution-focused self-starter, who has experience designing and delivering high-quality youth programmes. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the growth and development of our youth & community offer through overseeing the Path with a Purpose (PWAP) initiative, managing the teams, fostering partnerships, and actively participating in grant and fund activities.

You would be working alongside our passionate and dedicated Community Manager, Rachel Dyne, who has over 13 years of experience within YMCAs, and 6 years experience overseeing community work across all our areas of delivery.

Key responsibilities:

  • Actively contribute to the growth and development of youth and community work
  • As the lead on our PWAP initiative, oversee the seamless execution of programmes
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding process to ensure a highly skilled and trained team to support the execution of various programmes
  • Develop and strengthen organisational relationships with key partner organisations and local public bodies
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality and impactful youth and community work as needed
  • Collaborate as a key member of the grant and fund team within the charity, actively contributing to the identification of potential income streams

What we are looking for:

  • Qualification or relevant experience in youth work, including experience in launching community initiatives, programme/project management and writing detailed proposals
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding and safe work practices
  • High IT literacy and numeracy skill
  • Patience and ability to remain calm
  • Counselling skills such as active listening and a non-judgemental approach
  • The post holder must hold a full, clean driving licence and access to their own vehicle
  • Flexible approach to working hours, as this will include some evening and weekend work
