New Funding to Tackle Youth Loneliness and Develop Creative Studio

YMCA North Tyneside is delighted to announce new funding received from the Co-op Foundation and HM Government. Two separate grants have been received to help our work reach more young people through the “Building Connections Fund”.
The first grant of £10,000 from Co-op Foundation will involve young people in co-designing services to tackle loneliness. We will use a variety of arts and leisure based interventions to help understand the issue of youth loneliness and create targeted approaches that reduce youth loneliness. The programme will culminate in a residential activity as a reward for the young people participating, and better develop social connections and friendships.

The second grant, again of £10,000, will be used to develop an existing facility into a centre for youth creativity in North Shields. As a result, YMCA Music Studios will become STEAM Creative Studios. We will create a welcoming reception area and creatives spaces including a ‘digital darkroom’ and visual arts spaces alongside the continued music recording and rehearsal spaces.
