Housing Safety & Compliance Officer – Yorkshire (Field Based)

Β£29,500 per annum (Β£110 per month essential car user allowance is also payable)

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Housing Safety & Compliance Officer. This is a field-based role covering the Yorkshire region, perfect for someone dedicated to ensuring high-quality, safe housing solutions for those in need.

βœ… What Will You Be Doing?

As a Housing Safety & Compliance Officer, you will be a champion for safety, ensuring all residential properties managed by YMCA North Tyneside and our partners exceed regulatory requirements.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Inspections & Audits: Conducting regular, comprehensive physical inspections of properties to assess compliance and identify hazards.
  • Compliance Management: Ensuring property documents meet housing regulations, including HHSRS and Exempt Accommodation rules.
  • Reporting: Documenting findings in detailed reports and maintaining accurate records of certifications and repairs in our database.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with partner organisations to ensure essential safety checks (gas, electric, fire) are completed on time.

As a Housing Safety and Compliance Officer, you will be essential in ensuring our residential properties and those of our partners meet legal safety standards. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Technical Knowledge: A firm grasp of building codes and safety regulations related to residential property.
  • Communication & IT Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiency in software packages like Excel and database systems.
  • Mobility: A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle covered for business insurance, as the role involves significant travel.
  • Commitment: Proof of right to work in the UK and the ability to obtain a satisfactory enhanced DBS Disclosure.
