ROXBLAST Classes blend endurance with functional strength work, so the training involved is all about building an engine that can run hard and lift, push, pull, and carry under fatigue. It’s tough, but incredibly rewarding. HYROX-style training is a highly demanding and specialised fitness regimen. The core philosophy of this training is centered around building a robust “engine”—a high level of cardiorespiratory fitness that enables an individual to run hard and maintain speed, combined with the power and muscular endurance required to execute strenuous strength tasks while under significant fatigue.
ROXBLAST Classes are a hybrid approach that mirrors the structure of a HYROX race, where competitors alternate between 1-kilometer running segments and eight distinct functional strength workouts, such as sled pushes, burpee broad jumps, and wall balls. Therefore, the training program must be equally balanced, integrating structured running plans to improve aerobic capacity and speed with comprehensive strength and conditioning routines. These routines specifically target the movements and muscle groups utilised in the strength stations, focusing on:
Lifting: Developing the power and stability needed for exercises like the Farmers Carry or Sandbag Lunges.
Pushing/Pulling: Building the raw force required to move heavy resistance, most notably the Sled Push and Sled Pull.
Carrying: Enhancing grip strength and core endurance essential for sustained efforts like the Farmers Carry.
The combined effect of this training is the development of a unique type of full-body resilience. Athletes learn to manage the transition from a high-heart-rate running state to a demanding strength movement, a critical skill known as “metabolic switching.” While the journey through ROXBLAST training is undoubtedly tough, requiring significant discipline and mental fortitude, it is also incredibly rewarding, offering a profound sense of achievement, measurable improvements in all-round fitness, and the satisfaction of mastering one of the world’s most dynamic fitness challenges.
