✅ What Will You Be Doing?

As the Interim Director of Commercial Operations, you will provide senior leadership and operational oversight across YMCA North Tyneside’s commercial portfolio (including our Social Enterprises, Patterdale Hall Estate Ltd, and Marketing & Communications). Your main responsibilities include:

• Operational & Commercial Leadership: Directing and supporting established Heads of Service, fostering a high-performance, values-driven culture, and holding teams accountable to strategic goals.
• Financial Oversight: Interrogating P&Ls, tracking budgets, and ensuring trading margins and income targets across enterprise and hospitality operations are met.
• Project Sponsorship: Serving as Project Sponsor for commercial and development projects—such as the setup and launch of our new Reformer Pilates Studio and infrastructure projects at Patterdale Hall Estate.
• Data & Marketing Integration: Working with data officers and marketing leads to optimize reporting dashboards, customer feedback (NPS), and ROI-driven marketing campaigns.

🔑 What Skills and Experience Do You Need?

be successful in this rewarding 12-month fixed-term role (£55,000 – £58,000 FTE & Benefits; 37.5 hours/week, Mon–Fri with some evenings and travel), it is essential that you have:

• Education & Qualification: A degree-level qualification or equivalent demonstrably relevant senior leadership experience.
• Senior Leadership Experience: A proven track record in a senior operational or commercial role, line-managing managers, and overseeing multi-unit operations (e.g., hospitality, social enterprise, leisure, nursery).
• Financial & Project Acumen: Strong experience managing operational budgets, evaluating P&Ls, and acting as a lead or sponsor for commercial launches or development projects.
• Values-Driven Approach: Confident, fair, resilient, and supportive leadership style aligned with YMCA North Tyneside’s mission and Christian values, alongside flexibility for occasional evening work and travel to Patterdale.
