Dress for Success: The Donation Station is Now Open!
We all know the old saying, “Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.” But for many in our community, accessing the right professional attire is a significant barrier to entering the workforce.
We are thrilled to announce that YMCA North Tyneside has officially become Donation Station #7, supporting two incredible local initiatives: Suitability (by Society Matters CIC) and Smart Works North East. These organizations do more than just provide clothes; they provide the professional attire and coaching necessary to help people across our North East communities reclaim their futures.
A job interview is a high-pressure moment. Having the right outfit doesn’t just make a candidate look the part; it provides a vital boost of confidence that can change the entire trajectory of an interview.

When she found herself looking for a change in career, Sally, an Early Years Teacher and former Smart Works client, shared her experience:

By donating, you are ensuring that candidates like Sally feel empowered and respected as they take the next step in their lives.
If you have high-quality, unused, or slightly worn clean clothing taking up space in your wardrobe, you can turn it into someone else’s big break. Our partners are currently looking for:
Items can be dropped off at the YMCA North Tyneside Donation Station, located in the foyer outside the YMCA Gym and YMCA Cafe during our standard opening hours. Every single well-chosen item can make a world of difference.
If you know someone looking to get back into work or change careers who needs a little help, please point them toward the teams at Suitability (primarily for men) and Smart Works North East (primarily for women).
