Our Community Café at Lipscomb Hall, Cockfield, Teesdale, is an inclusive hub providing healthy, delicious, and affordable food while fostering hope, connection, and growth.

As a Community Café Assistant, you will be key to ensuring an exceptional experience for every customer, volunteer, and learner. Your role involves more than technical skills; you will work alongside and inspire people pursuing catering qualifications and work experience, using your passion for food and people to empower others to believe in their potential.

Who We Are Looking For: A Compassionate & Skilled Cook

We seek an authentic, compassionate individual ready to support our community to thrive. You will act as a warm, trusted team member and an encouraging mentor dedicated to inspiring positive change through food and connection.

Core Qualities:

Flexible & Willing to Grow: Open to developing new skills and flexible with work days, including weekend shifts on a rota basis and covering staff absences.

Passionate & Skilled Cook: Experience in a café or catering environment, with the ability (or strong willingness) to prepare and cook meals from scratch. A relevant food hygiene certificate (or commitment to achieve one) is essential.

Warm Communicator: Excellent, calm, encouraging, and supportive communication skills, naturally able to make people from all walks of life feel respected and welcome.

Customer Service Champion: A genuine desire to deliver excellent, friendly, open, and authentic customer service.
