Local businessman and long-time YMCA supporter Ben Broadhead is setting a sterling example of philanthropy and civic responsibility. Celebrating his recent directorship at E Turnbull & Son Funeral Directors, Ben has chosen to mark this personal milestone in a most altruistic manner – by investing in the education of children.
Understanding the profound impact that early education has on the developmental stages of children, Ben has generously donated the funds necessary to provide a full year’s worth of foreign language lessons for our preschoolers at YMCA Day Nursery. This initiative is not just a gift of education; it’s a doorway to cultural awareness and cognitive enrichment for our young learners.
Ben said “The YMCA plays a significant role in supporting the North Shields community and it is of utmost importance for us to continue to contribute to the community, which has been steadfastly supporting us as a business for over 230 years. The advantages of children learning languages at a young age are immense, and we consider it a true honour to provide this educational opportunity to all the children in the nursery. Our aim is to ensure that no child is deprived of this invaluable chance to learn and grow.”

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ben for his remarkable donation and look forward to witnessing the fruits of this initiative as our preschoolers embark on a journey of linguistic and cultural discovery. And of course, a huge congratulations to Ben on his directorship; we’re excited to see the impact you make on our community!
