Job Description

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a brand new role as a Cleaning Supervisor at YMCA North Tyneside, we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaning Supervisor to join our team and really make a difference. 

This position works directly with the Maintenance Manager and will involve a combination of direct hands-on work, supervising and managing a team of housekeeping staff, and ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the organisation.

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience in cleaning, COSHH and supervisory roles. If you’re ready to take on a new challenge,  we want to hear from you! 

Who we are looking for

  • Is a team playing but able to use your own initiative
  • Has good communication skills
  • Is self-motivated and passionate
  • Has a flexible approach to work and hours
  • Has cleaning experience, supervisor or manager experience but this is not essential 
  • Good administrative skills

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to arrange sickness cover which may be at any point during our opening hours.

 

Role Details

Some of the exciting tasks you will do as the Cleaning Supervisor include but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and manage a team of housekeeping staff, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary. This includes arranging sickness and holiday cover, which may be outside of your working hours.
  • Create and implement work schedules for the housekeeping team, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient use of resources. 
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the YMCA facilities, including lobby, hallways, stairwells, locker rooms, gym, Nursery, offices and other designated areas. 
  • Perform regular inspections to ensure that all cleaning tasks are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner. 
  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new housekeeping staff members. 
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials, ensuring that all necessary items are readily available for the team.
  • Carry out your own cleaning duties and tasks which must be performed to a high standard.
  • Keep a track of all completed tasks sheets, including your own.
  • Ensure all COSHH Information is saved and up to date.
  • Have regular one to one meetings with the team plus probationary meetings and annual reviews.
  • Keep up to date with all administrative tasks.
  • Regularly review contracts for cleaning and products.
