About YMCA North Tyneside

Imagine being part of a global movement that’s transforming lives right here in Scarborough, and across the North East. At YMCA North Tyneside, we’re more than just an organization – we’re a community. We believe in the potential of every individual and we’re dedicated to creating spaces where everyone can hope, belong, contribute and thrive. Join us and be a part of something truly meaningful.

Step into a legacy of positive change. YMCA North Tyneside is part of a powerful global network, with roots stretching back to 1844. We’re proud to be part of the world’s largest and oldest youth movement, impacting 64 million lives annually across 119 countries. We also work with adults across several settings in the North East providing tenancy related support in a residential setting. Here, you’ll be part of a team driven by strong values, working to build a brighter future for our local communities.

About you:

Do you have experience working with vulnerable adults? Do you have experience in supporting those with a variety of needs and challenges? Do you have a passion for working within an organisation that is committed to ensuring all hope, belong, contribute and thrive in their community? If you said yes to these questions, we want to hear from you.

We’re looking for a dedicated Housing Support Worker to join our team! Qualifications aren’t essential, we value life experience but if you have a relevant qualification that would be great too (e.g., NVQ/Diploma Level 2 or 3 in housing, social care or health) and a good academic background (GCSEs C+ in English/Maths). We are looking for someone eager to develop their skills and in return we will show a commitment to your on-going professional development.

You’ll have experience of supporting vulnerable adults, and understand the challenges they face, like homelessness, substance misuse and mental health issues. Any experience in housing support is a bonus.

The right person will excel at connecting with people, setting boundaries, assessing needs, and creating tenancy intervention plans. You’ll also be comfortable with IT (case management systems, Google Works) and handling sensitive information with confidence.

You’ll be able to stay calm under pressure, work effectively solo and in a team and maintain excellent organisation with your caseload and records.

We value empathy, patience, resilience, and a non-judgmental approach. We want someone who’s committed to empowering others, upholding high ethical standards, and championing diversity. It’s important that you support our Charity’s values and aims and understand the diverse needs of the people we work with.
