The Platinum Jubilee Celebrations saw the launch of Cafe 1879’s Afternoon Teas and they were extremely well received by all. Karen and the kitchen team whipped up some amazing tiers of treats, from dainty finger sandwiches to hot quiches, freshly baked scones and gorgeous cake. They looked fit for a Queen!
Shona and the café staff went all out with decorating the café to make sure the celebration was a special one. The café was adorned with Union Jack bunting, balloons and even a balloon arch that was painstakingly assembled by Shona on the days leading up to the Jubilee. Taking pride of place was Queen Elizabeth II herself (well…the 2D version of her) allowing our customers and staff the opportunity to snap a #RoyalSelfie. It’s safe to say that much fun was had!

Due to popular demand, we have decided to extend our offering of Afternoon Teas and make them a permanent addition to our menu, though they must be pre-booked! You can view the scrumptious delights of our Afternoon Teas here. Each sale made in the café allows us to continue the important work we do with young people in the North East. Support your local community and book your Afternoon Tea today!
