Delivered by a team that is committed to ensuring children have the best chance of reaching their potential, YMCA Day Nursery always put the needs of children first and ensure that each child is challenged through play and learning.

Nursery rooms and daily routines have been designed around each age group, providing a curriculum of learning specifically tailored to each child’s individual interests. Activities are planned to maximise enjoyment and promote their learning and development further.
In addition to outdoor play and visits to YMCA’s allotment, nursery children are now able to stimulate their senses in our bespoke sensory room.
YMCA Day Nursery focuses on ensuring that all children are prepared for moving on to school nursery or reception class. They also strive to support families, with help and guidance, to give their children the very best start in life.

Sarah’s Story

Sarahs family were living in a 1 room bedsit in London and couldn’t secure appropriate living accommodation. With the support of Sarah’s grandma, they moved back to the North East and placed Sarah in YMCA Day Nursery.

During registration, Sarah’s parents expressed concerns around her speech and lack of interaction with other children. They also explained their living situation and how the mum suffered from depression and anxiety.
YMCA Day Nursery immediately connected the family to the Early Help Assessment Team who provided additional support and access to professionals who could help the family, including health visitors and family support workers.
Sarah’s mum has told us “we are so grateful for all the support and kindness that has been shown to us. Staff are so lovely, kind, helpful and supportive and we have definitely made the right decision to send Sarah to this nursery.”
