YMCA North Tyneside is a Voluntary Sector Organisation undertaking youth and community programme work in areas of North Tyneside, South Tyneside, and Teesdale. Job Description

We are looking for Youth & Community workers to join our community team at YMCA North Tyneside on a fixed term contract. In this role you will be supporting the development and delivery of youth & community work within Jarrow, South Tyneside, specifically our NCS funded project work. 

This project will be youth led, supporting the growth and development of young people through varied opportunities and programmes. Session will allow them to explore and develop their life skills such as budgeting, cooking, understanding finances and public responsibility. We will continue to offer our cohort opportunities to gain experience and skills around employability, through workshops and engagement with our corporate partners, and visits to local higher education establishments. 

We currently have a robust programme of social action opportunities for our young people, and pathways into regular volunteering roles within our local communities. Throughout all of these opportunities, social mixing, exploring and celebrating identity will be at the heart of our approach. We will continue to support all of our young people to come together regularly and establish new friendships, relationships and a greater understanding of those from different backgrounds.

Job Title: Youth & Community worker
Location: Jarrow, South Tyneside (exact location to be confirmed)
Contract Type: 3 hours fortnightly, 18 months, Fixed Term
Salary: Up to £10.50

To be successful, it is essential that you have relevant experience and/or relevant qualifications in youth/community work, recent relevant training and Continued Professional Development. Additionally, it is essential that you have a flexible approach to your working hours, working hours could include daytime, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
