Covid 19 Update from YMCA North Tyneside
YMCA North Tyneside is taking the spread of Coronavirus in the UK and the
North East extremely seriously. As always our number one priority remains the
safety and wellbeing of our people, customers and beneficiaries providing a safe
and clean environment for you all to enjoy.
Out Of Service
Figures uncovered today by YMCA reveal the true extent of cuts to youth services funding by local authorities in England and Wales since 2010, with an allocation of just under £429m in2018/19, compared to £1.4bn in 2010/11 – a real terms decline of 70%.
YMCA Christmas Campaign
Throughout the Christmas period YMCA North Tyneside held a number of exciting events and staff embarked upon a number of projects in the hope of bringing the local community together while raising funds to help tackle youth homelessness.
Building Healthy Habits
Hundreds of North Tyneside residents will get extra help to make lifestyle changes and reduce their risk of preventable diseases, thanks to a £299,705 grant to Age UK North Tyneside and YMCA North Tyneside.
Youth Matters Award Winners
An innovative accommodation project, which provides opportunities for young people with complex needs to succeed, was named cream of the crop at the leading youth charity’s award ceremony last Friday night.
YMCA 175 Roadshow
YMCA has a rich heritage and history of prominent individuals and significant events which have made a lasting contribution to society. For the first time, unseen artefacts and untold stories from the last 175 years, will come together as part of one collection to bring to life the impact YMCA has had on young people’s lives. People in the North East will be able to see the exhibition in North Shields.
Whole Hour 2019
As cases of mental health difficulties among young people continue to rise, it is more important than ever to take time out to prioritise mental wellbeing. YMCA North Tyneside is calling on everyone in the North East to do just that by taking a WHOLE HOUR for themselves on World Mental Health Day (10 October).
Homelessness Sunday
Housing Justice, the national Christian homelessness charity, is urging churches to take part in this year’s Homeless Sunday – confirmed as October 13 (2019).
Great North Run 2019
This year we had 21 fantastic runners who donned their YMCA vests, laced up their trainers and set out to complete the 2019 Great North Run.
YMCA175: Celebrating 175 Years of YMCA
What began as a small London based Christian Association in 1844 is now an international movement, and this year celebrated 175 years of YMCA as an organisation. Last week some of YMCA North Tyneside’s staff and young people headed down South to celebrate in style at ExCel London.
Fruit-full Communities Video Release
Young people from YMCA North Tyneside have been involved in this programme for a number of years. This video highlights the huge success of the Fruit-full Communities scheme. We are very proud of our young people and what they have achieved.
What have I Learnt from my Child with Autism
When becoming a parent there is a lot to learn, but learning your child is different from what you expect, it’s like having to relearn new ways to parent. For me it was hard at first to learn how to cater to his needs however I feel like he has helped me in so many ways to tune into his needs in order to get him through daily with things he struggles with, not only this but to make all our lives easier.
