Staff VS Young People Football Match
On Wednesday the 9th of April the football pitch at the Parks turned into a battleground—not of rivals, but of friendly fire as our North Shields Youth Group faced off against the YMCA Staff Team in what can only be described as a match for the ages (and possibly some ice packs).
The Start of Our Free Winter Community Meals
Last Wednesday saw the success of our first Winter Community Meal of the year, with over 19 people in attendance enjoying a big bowl of chilli, followed by cake and custard.
YWCA-YMCA Week of Prayer 2022
The 13 – 19th November is the World YWCA and World YMCA Week of Prayer. These sibling organisations, among other things, organise opportunities to unite their local associations around the world on important issues.
YMCA Announces New Outdoor Space For Residents
YMCA recently celebrated the opening of a redeveloped outdoor space for the young people who live under our roof in North Shields.
YMCA Opens Residential Unit in Berwick-upon-Tweed
On 11th October 2022 the Bishop of Berwick, The Right Reverend Mark Wroe officially opened YMCA North Tyneside’s first supported housing project in Berwick-upon-Tweed.

Fundraising at The Great North Run 2022
On Sunday 11th September 2022, seven enthusiastic runners completed the Great North Run in support of YMCA North Tyneside.
Teesdale’s Best Social Enterprise
Bradley arrived at YMCA North Tyneside in 2020, when he was just 16. He was homeless and needed support, but he clearly had a lot of unfulfilled potential. Two years on, Bradley has a job, is living independently and has become a YMCA Youth Ambassador. He is excited to be heading to YMCA’s World Council event in Denmark to learn more about the worldwide impact of YMCA.
Y’s Girls
The Y’s Girls project addresses key issues faced by vulnerable young females aged 9 to 14 years of age. Volunteer mentors are identified from the local community and paired with young girls in need of a positive relationship with an adult.
Youth Work at RAF Leeming
In January 2022, YMCA North Tyneside entered into a partnership with 13 other YMCAs to deliver RAF Benevolent Fund’s ‘Airplay’ project. YMCA Teesdale has a new team of youth workers who are working out of RAF Leeming, a base in North Yorkshire, to deliver youth activities and support to young people.
Safe to be LGBTQ+
Our Central Jarrow Detached Youth Project is one of our most active youth groups, and has a regular attendance of around 50 young people at our Friday night sessions, including many identifying as LGBTQ+.
